Everletter ("we", "us", "our") designs and sells greeting cards and paper goods online at everletter.com.au. This policy explains how we handle your personal information. It applies to everyone who visits our website or buys from us.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

What we collect

  • Your name, email address, phone number, and shipping and billing addresses
  • Your order history, and the items you view or add to your cart
  • Payment details, which are processed by our payment providers — we do not store full card numbers
  • Device and usage information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, collected through cookies and analytics
  • Anything you choose to send us by email or through a form on our site

How we collect it

Directly from you when you place an order, create an account, subscribe to our emails or contact us. Automatically through cookies and analytics when you browse the site. And from our service providers, such as our payment and shipping partners.

Why we use it

  • To process, package and deliver your order, and to handle returns or exchanges
  • To respond to your questions and provide customer support
  • To send you marketing emails, if you have opted in
  • To improve our website, products and service
  • To detect and prevent fraud
  • To meet our legal, tax and record-keeping obligations

Marketing

We only send marketing emails to people who have opted in. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also email us at any time to opt out. Opting out of marketing does not stop transactional messages about an order you have placed.

  • Shopify, which hosts our online store
  • Payment providers, to process your payment
  • Shipping carriers including Australia Post, to deliver your order
  • Email marketing and website analytics providers

We do not sell your personal information.

Overseas disclosure

Our store runs on Shopify, and some of our service providers store and process data outside Australia — including in the United States, Canada and the European Union. By providing your personal information to us, you consent to this disclosure. We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers handle your information appropriately, but overseas recipients may not be subject to Australian privacy law.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep items in your cart, remember your preferences and understand how our site is used. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work properly if you do.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

How long we keep it

We keep your personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes described above, and for as long as we are required to by law. Transaction records are retained for five years to meet Australian tax requirements.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by emailing hello@everletter.com.au. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before we can act on your request, and in limited circumstances permitted by law we may decline — if we do, we will explain why.

Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please email hello@everletter.com.au. We will investigate and respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

If you are in the United Kingdom or European Economic Area

You may have additional rights in relation to your personal information, including rights to erasure, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. Email us to exercise any of these rights.

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page, along with the date it was last updated.
